TUESDAY NIGHT TALKS
FINE MOTOR FUN
Led by pediatric occupational therapist Heather Harder, Fine motor fun! is an hour of play and learning for parents. This interactive talk will walk parents through some of the reasons why their child’s handwriting and other fine motor skills may not be as legible or “easy” as they would like and demonstrate some simple steps to start making positive change towards those goals. Suitable for parents of elementary age children, this session is not an assessment but a starting point to explore how to add some play into the daily routine to build up hand strength, endurance and coordination….all while making it fun!
Tuesday, Jan. 24 for 1 night 7:00-8:30 FREE
Please contact us through email, phone or FB messenger if you have any ideas about what you'd like to see offered, or if you are able to share your own expertise with your neighbours.

MINDFULNESS MEDITATION
Instructor: Dan Woodward
Anxiety, stress and depression, are just some of the mental health challenges we all experienced during the pandemic and may still be dealing with. Many of us are worrying constantly, having problems staying focused on tasks, finding it difficult to make a decision, wearing our emotions on our sleeve and might be experiencing sleeping disorders, all threaten to overwhelm our mental stability. Common knowledge recognizes that exercising your body keeps our body healthy, but what are we doing to exercise our mind? The very mind that is trying to cope with this world. Meditation and mindfulness practices have shown in numerous systematic reviews improvements in the measure of these conditions. Just taking a few minutes each day and or throughout the day to check in purposefully with ourselves, our thoughts and the quality of those thoughts, we can realize positive benefits to our mental health.

The Tecumseh Community School is a volunteer run, not-for-profit organization. Our goal is to offer affordable programs for our community, and to foster a sense of neighbourhood. We offer a wide variety of programs and workshops for children and adults, from September through June. Our office and all programs are held at Tecumseh Public School in Old South, in London, Ontario. Any proceeds from the programs are channeled back into the community, either as gifts to the school, or to local charities.
The Tecumseh Community School is one of the last of its kind in the city. It greatly benefits the members of our neighbourhood, and its existence is one of the many reasons Tecumseh School is so important to our entire community. For our current and future neighbours, we are committed to the future of Tecumseh Community School.
